Clergy Program
What is the ADF Clergy Training Program?
A key component of ADF’s vision is “public temple worship with a skilled priesthood.” This means serving the Kindreds and our communities through ordained ministry.
Some of our clergy feel a vocation to service through ordained ministry. Others feel called to ordination as an expression of their personal devotion to their hearth or deities. The Clergy Training Program is appropriate for both scenarios.
In short, ADF’s Clergy Training Program (CTP) is designed to meet the educational and spiritual needs of those preparing for ordination. The CTP provides a solid and structured curriculum that covers many areas of development, learning, and practice.
How is the CTP structured?
The CTP is made up of three levels of work, referred to as Circles. Each Circle contains a series of courses. Circles are categories of learning, with resources and exit standards, which must be answered in writing for evaluation.
How long does it take?
The First Circle of the CTP can be completed in about a year, if the student has sufficient time to devote to the requirements. Additional Circles typically take about a year each, depending on the student.
How much does this cost?
All ADF training programs are free for current members.
Does completing the CTP mean I will be ordained?
Completing the First Circle of the CTP is a prerequisite for applying to be ordained. Ordination is at the discretion of the ADF Clergy Council. In other words, completing the CTP does not grant the right to ordination, only the right to apply.
How do I get started?
Any ADF member who has completed the Dedicant Program may apply for the Clergy Training Program. All applicants to the CTP must undergo a background check, provide references, and complete all preliminary requirements before they can begin.
