Training

Training with ADF

ADF offers a variety of study programs aimed at personal growth and the development of trained clergy. Whether you’re called to deepen your spirituality, develop specific skills, or become an ordained priest, ADF has a program that can help you achieve your goals. Our training programs are free to all members.

The Dedicant Path

The Dedicant Path is the spiritual and intellectual first step in making ADF Druidry one’s personal path. Completion of the Dedicant Path is a prerequisite for entrance into any of the other ADF Study Programs. New members receive the Dedicant Path Manual when they join ADF.

Hearth Keeper’s Way

For individuals, families, and small groups who align themselves with ADF but who also follow other traditions, ADF offers the Hearth Keeper’s Way. Hearth Keepers observe some of ADF’s beliefs and practices but may belong to other groups and honor traditions that fall outside ADF’s Indo-European focus. To become a Hearth Keeper is to devote yourself to the basic work of druidry – to welcome the gods and spirits to your hearthfire, mark the holy days, and integrate paganism into your daily life. Being a Hearth Keeper is about keeping the flames of piety active for your Hearth.

Advanced Study Programs

Generalist Program

The Generalist Study Program is designed to help deepen one’s understanding of ADF Druidry.

Generalist students will develop core intellectual skills and knowledge valuable to all individuals pursuing a druidic path. This program is open to anyone who has completed the Dedicant Program.

Guild Study Programs

Guild training programs are designed by ADF Guilds to meet their members’ special interests and needs.

Currently there are nine Guilds — Artisans, Bards, Brewers, Liturgists, Magicians, Naturalist, Scholars, Seers, and Warriors — that offer study programs and are accepting new students.

Initiate Program

The Initiate’s Program was developed and designed to bridge the gap between the Dedicant Path and the Clergy Training Program.

The Initiate Program helps members deepen their spiritual practice and expand their ritual skills and is open to all members regardless of whether or not they are called to ordained ministry.

Clergy Program

The Clergy Training Program is administered by the Clergy Council of ADF with the goal of producing fully trained clergy who are qualified for ordination and prepared to serve as ministers to their community or as part of their personal devotional practice.
